As the National Language Advisor for German I am working with secondary schools across Aotearoa New Zealand to support engaging German language teaching and learning as well as the development of new language programmes. My work is grounded in the belief that languages are not only tools for communication, but powerful ways of understanding each others perspectives and cultures in today’s world.
I bring extensive international experience from German international schools in North and Central America, alongside leadership roles in Germany and Hong Kong. These experiences enable me to work confidently across different cultures and to translate international best practice into local school practice. They have also shaped my understanding of schools as communities, where leadership and culture play a central role in learning.
In addition to my teaching background, I have worked widely as a teacher and leadership trainer, supporting curriculum development, pedagogy, and strategic growth. I am particularly interested in professional learning that empowers teachers, and supports reflective practice.
At the heart of my work is a strong commitment to intercultural learning and to connecting people through languages and education. I see languages as bridges between cultures, ideas, and communities, and learning as a powerful means of building understanding in a connected world.
I have been living in Aotearoa New Zealand since August 2024 and have quickly grown to appreciate the Kiwi connection to nature. From everyday life to education, I value how environment and community are woven into learning and living, and how this shapes a strong sense of place and belonging.
