Paola Iasci is the National Spanish Language Adviser, based at the Spanish Embassy in Wellington. Paola was born in Italy, and went to Madrid when she was 24 years old with an Erasmus program, after majoring in Humanities and Cinema Studies at the University of Trieste.
In Spain Paola continued studying and developing her professional career. She has worked as a foreign language teacher for more than 20 years, with the last 5 years appointed as the Head of studies of the Official School of Languages in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid) and also as an Erasmus Project Coordinator.
Paola has worked as a teacher trainer at the INTEF (Institute for teacher training in ITC) from 2015 to 2017. In 2023 she started her overseas professional experience teaching Spanish to Swiss teenagers in Geneva within ALCE - a Ministry of Education Program.
Since September 2024 Paola has been in charge of the Education Advisory Office in New Zealand while training as a Spanish teacher in Aotearoa. This has entailed visiting schools and liaising with foreign Language teaching associations and Universities.
Paola likes watching films, swimming and doing pottery. She has two daughters who live in Madrid and study respectively Law and International Relations and Dentistry.
